At the end of June, we had a great time teaching wet plate collodion at Stills Gallery in Edinburgh. It’s a couple of years since we’ve taught a course there and it was lovely to be back in this fantastic venue.
The sun was shining. There were cyanotypes and daguerrotypes on display on account of a couple of great little exhibitions: Anna Atkins: Cyanotypes & Margaret Watkins: Advertising Photography and an exhibition of Takashi Arai’s fabulous daguerrotypes – Daily D-Type – there as part of the ACTINIC Festival of alternative photography.
The students learned the process very quickly and were turning out cracking portraits in no time and – just as importantly – everyone was up for a beer or two with us after the workshop.
